Hi, i’m trey…
Trey Thompson was born and raised in West Tennessee with a family that encouraged him to pursue traditional career paths; however he never lost his passion for creativity. From a young age, he found solace in painting, photography, music, and cooking. Over the years, he honed his craft through practice and countless hours watching the great Bob Ross.
But like so many others, Trey found himself feeling out of place in a world that prized conformity. He pursued careers in medicine, psychology, science, and business, all while ignoring his true calling. However, earlier this year, Trey decided to take the leap to pursue his passion for the arts full-time.
Through his abstract acrylic and mixed media paintings, Trey explores the societal norms that affect our mental health and well-being. He seeks to challenge the status quo and promote self-awareness, personal growth, and kindness in a world that is becoming increasingly divisive. Trey's approach to creating a new painting is a reflection of his own growth mindset, allowing his pieces to evolve organically and embracing the beauty in imperfection.
With each piece of art, Trey hopes to inspire others to better recognize and understand their own mental health and the cultural forces that impact it.
